Danika is a former practicing lawyer from Neyaskweyahk, Maskwacis in Treaty No. 6 territory in Alberta, Canada. Danika is an Assistant Professor and  Early Career Researcher at Carleton University in the Department of Law and Legal Studies (Faculty of Public Affairs). She is the former Co-Chair of the Canadian Commission for UNESCO and ha

Danika is an Assistant Professor and  Early Career Researcher at Carleton University in the Department of Law and Legal Studies (Faculty of Public Affairs). She is the former Co-Chair of the Canadian Commission for UNESCO and has led many diverse initiatives related to biodiversity conservation in Canada. Danika is Co-Principal Investigator of the Ărramăt Project and involved in a diverse number of other projects.

Over the last twenty years, she has been strongly advocating for Indigenous peoples’ rights at the international, regional and national levels, including in the Sahel region and Canada. She is the former President of the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (UNPFII), an adviso


Mariam is a Tuareg woman from Timbuktu in Mali. Over the last twenty years, she has been strongly advocating for Indigenous peoples’ rights at the international, regional and national levels, including in the Sahel region and Canada. She is the former President of the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (UNPFII), an advisory body to the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).  Marina is a Co-Principal Investigator of the Ărramăt  Project and is involved in a diverse number of other projects.
